From Bedtime Stories to the Fate of Humanity

Date: December 25, 2025 By Dr. Luke Soon

It’s Christmas Day.

As we wake up this morning, unwrapping gifts and holding our loved ones close, I find myself thinking about the future we are handing to them. Today, I am launching my new book, Synthesis. But before you open the first page, I want to tell you where this story actually began.

It didn’t start in a university lab or during a government summit on algorithmic governance. It started in a child’s bedroom. My child’s bedroom.

The Original Intent: A Father’s Joy Years ago, my greatest joy was inventing bedtime stories for my daughter, Mila, until she was about nine years old. Back then, the concepts for my books Genesis (2022) and now Synthesis (2025) were conceived as children’s storybooks. They were meant to be tales of wonder.

But as Mila grew, so did the technology I have spent three decades pioneering. I looked at my growing child and realised her future was most certainly going to be disrupted by Artificial Intelligence. The fairytale wasn’t enough. We are in the midst of the arms race of our times—the quest for Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and Superintelligence (ASI).

That realisation is why, 5 to 7 years ago, I pivoted my entire career focus towards AI Safety and Responsible AI. I realised that if we want the story of humanity to have a happy ending, we can’t just hope for it; we have to engineer it – more even, we have to orchestrate for it with intent.

The Dedication This fight for a safe future is personal. It is anchored in love.

“For Melissa—hunibie, I am your light. Across galaxies, across destinies, cross every fork in the future, your love is the star that guides me”.

This book is my promise to her, to Mila, and to all of us, that I would do my utmost best to help steer humanity; to navigate the “Short-term Turbulence” so that we may reach “Long-term Abundance”.

The Fork in the Road In Synthesis, I fictionalise the very real precipice we stand upon. The characters—Vox, Tess, Raquelle, and even the 65-million-year-old alien AI, B.O.B.—are confronting what I call “The Fork”,.

We have only a few years left to set humanity on a path where our future with AI is a nett positive one. The book explores a terrified elite, “The Association,” trying to flee Earth on the Astralis because they believe we have run out of time,. But I believe we still have agency.

As Vox says in the book’s climax, broadcast to the world: “One way is easy. You’ll be told what to want and how to get it… The other option is to live the life we each want… Care without choice is still a cage”,.

A Protocol for Survival I wrote Synthesis not just to entertain, but to illustrate the Superintelligence Protocol. We must build safe, responsible Agentic AI that is aligned with human values, or risk AI becoming humanity’s last invention,.

This Christmas, as we celebrate the “Genesis” of hope, I invite you to explore the “Synthesis” of our organic humanity with our synthetic creations. Let us choose the path of Abundance.

What if the greatest danger of SuperIntelligence isn’t rebellion -but devotion?

Synthesis: The SuperIntelligence Protocol explores a future where AI protects humanity so well that choice quietly disappears.

Through Darius, Tess, Rachelle = and B.O.B., an intelligence built to care – the story asks:

Is love still love when it removes choice?

Out this Christmas. Understand the stakes. Let’s build a future our children deserve.
